Whether you're opting to have a hair and makeup trial done before the wedding day or not – achieving your dream beauty look can be as simple as ever! Wedding day beauty doesn't have to be hard or complicated, so we're giving some insider tips on how to communicate with your HMU artists to ensure your beauty look is just what you envisioned when you walk down the aisle!
1. Bring Inspiration for Different Beauty Looks
The easiest way to communicate your vision to your HMU artist is to bring inspiration for different beauty looks that you love. It's important to not only bring photos of full looks – but also individual features that you are totally into!
Find different hairstyles or up-do's that pair well with different beauty looks – a sophisticated up-do might pair well with that cheeky pink blush look you've been eyeing!
Did you find a lip color that is just to-die-for? Make sure and bring that color with you on the day of.
Your makeup artist will apply the lipstick for you during your makeup session and your MOH can do touch-ups as needed.
The easiest way to communicate your total vision is to bring lots of photos. This will help your HMU get a better understanding of your overall picture while crafting the look of your dreams.
2. Do a Trial or Discuss Options Prior to the Event
If you're able, try to have a trial session before the big day, however; sometimes this isn't an option due to distance and other circumstances.
Regardless, make sure you talk to your stylists before the event – filling them in on different options and what you're desiring. Some options might turn out different than you had planned, so discussing options beforehand is always a must!
For example, if you have thinner hair – an elegant and full up-do might take more time, or even require hair extensions to help thicken out your hair to add more body. Thinking through these options with your HMU artists beforehand will help alleviate any unneeded pressure or surprises.
3. Speak Up
If your hair or makeup look isn't looking like what you've explained or what you've shown – don't be afraid to speak up! You are paying a HMU artist to give you the desired look (or something similar), so if you aren't feeling it let them know!
