If you've followed our wedding planning checklist, then it's time to pop the question to the most important girls in your life! While a phone call asking them to be a part of your special day will do the trick, we think popping the question with a cute card or proposal box is much more thoughtful. These girls are going to be dedicating a lot of time to you over the next few months so it's important to put some thought and meaning behind how you ask them to be a part of your wedding journey. Plus, coming up with your bridesmaid proposal can be so much fun! So where to begin?! Keep reading for ideas on how to pop the question to your girl gang.
Determine Your Budget
Putting together a cute proposal box can add up quickly especially if you have a large bridal party. So decide what your overall budget is first and then determine how much that means you can spend on each girl.
Will you be able to give each of your bridesmaids' their proposal box in person or will you have to mail it to them? If you have to mail it, this cost will also add up quickly so remember to factor shipping into your budget. Additionally, having to mail their items could eliminate some ideas such as anything breakable and possibly perishable, or at least cause you to think through your packaging.
DIY or Pre-Made
Depending on your budget, time, and creativity level, you'll also want to decide if you'll be putting these proposal gifts together yourself or buying a pre-made box. There are a number of cute pre-made box offerings now that bridesmaids' proposals are a thing so if you have the budget and want to save yourself some time, go with this option. How cute is this one from Etsy? If you'll be DIY-ing it, keep reading for some ideas on creating the perfect box.
How to Create the Perfect Bridesmaid Proposal Box
- Include a card: At the very least ask your bridesmaids with a cute "Will you be my bridesmaid / maid of honor?" card. For a budget friendly option, I love these from Amazon. These Rifle Paper company ones are gorgeous and just a tad pricier.
- Personalize it: Making a number of identical bridesmaid proposal boxes can start to feel not so thoughtful. To add a unique touch to each one include something personalized such as a champagne flute, cute cookie, or trinket tray with each bridesmaids' name on it.
- Make it unique to your wedding: Add a special touch by including something that's unique and relevant to your wedding. This could be earrings you want them to wear with their dresses, a gorgeous scarf in your wedding color, or nail polish in the color you'll be wearing on the big day! When I asked my bridesmaids, I gave them the blush pink nail color I was wearing when I got engaged and that I planned to wear on my wedding day. - Have some fun: Don't forget to have a little fun with your box! Include a confetti popper, mini champagne bottle, or champagne gummies to get them excited for all the festivities they'll get to be a part of!
