Trying to find ways to stick to your wedding budget? Want to spend less and save more money on your wedding? Who doesn't?! On today's blog, we're here to share with you five tips on how to stick to your wedding budget. Let's jump in!
1. Be on the same page with your fiancé
First and foremost, you have to discuss you wedding budget with your fiancé. You both have to be on the same page and hold each other accountable by sticking to your wedding budget. You want to be in agreement and organized when budgeting your wedding and by discussing it up front, you'll be sure to stay on the same page as you start making decisions and booking vendors.
2. Reference the budget before all meetings
Secondly, you should always reference your wedding budget before reaching out to or meeting with any vendors. This way your budget is top of mind for that specific vendor. When you have your wedding budget organized, it will be easy to find what you can spend where and with what vendors before committing to anything.
3. Understand the total costs
Before you book any vendors, you need to ask them what the total cost is going to be with fees, taxes, and everything, not just the initial estimate that they give you. Oftentimes, vendors especially venues and caterers may share that their package is x amount but then there are additional fees like setup and taxes, so be sure to have the vendors clarify what the final total cost will be before committing.
4. Don't forget the small stuff
Don't skip on budgeting for the small stuff. There are a lot of little things that can add up quick so add all of these things to your budget sheet. It may seem unnecessary, but trust us that these small things can amount to thousands of dollars. And by small things we really mean everything - your mani pedi before your wedding day, your little white dresses, and your stamps for your save the dates. When you account for all of your expenses, big and small, you'll have an accurate depiction of how much you can expect to spend on your wedding and where you may need to cut back.
5. Give yourself a cushion
Lastly, always give yourself a cushion for things that can come up that you just didn't budget for. It's better to come under budget than over, don't you think?! So be sure to give yourself some wiggle room in your budget if you end up forgetting something or adding something at the last minute!
