4 Wedding Day Splurges

  • 2 min read

Wondering what's worth splurging on versus saving for your wedding? On today's blog, we've got you covered and are here to share with you the four things that you should definitely be splurging on for your wedding. Let's jump in!

1. Photographer

Your photos will be the only thing you have to look back on from your special day, so you will definitely want to invest in a good photographer. When the days over, you're not going to have the flowers, decorations, or food from your wedding, all you will have left are the photos to look back on! Your photos will help you relive your once in a lifetime day over and over and you will treasure them for a lifetime.

Since you'll want to splurge here, you need to take your time selecting your photographer. Make sure you're asking them all the right questions as you interview and be sure to understand their packages / hours before you hire them.

You'll likely need at least 8 hours from your photographer if you truly want to capture the entire day. Another important aspect of your photographer is having a second shooter so that all the little details and special moments are captured.

2. Your Videographer

Along with photos, the only other thing you’ll have to remember your wedding day is your video. That’s why it’s so important to also invest in a videographer! Between a photographer and videographer, costs can add up really quick. One trick to save money is to hire a videographer to just shoot the raw footage of the day and not edit into a shorter version. That way you’ll save money but still have video footage from your day. You can always pay to edit the footage later.

3. A Day-of Coordinator

While it may seem like if you plan ahead and get your day-of timeline nailed down that you could just have anyone run the show on your wedding day, we strongly discourage this. The last thing you want is to be stressing out on your wedding day trying to coordinate everything. You need a professional handling the flow of the day so that you can sit back and enjoy it all. Find it in your budget to hire a day-of coordinator, we promise it will be so worth it!

We often get asked if a full time wedding planner is worth the splurge, and our answer is no. We actually created the Wedding Planning Formula membership, a digital course to help you with every step of the planning process so that you wouldn't need a full time planner. Be sure to check out the WPF membership, so you can know exactly what to do to organize, plan, and budget for your dream wedding!

4. Alterations

Instead of splurging on your wedding dress, save money here and splurge instead on great alterations. An inexpensive dress can look like a million bucks if it's altered to fit you perfectly! We love BHLDN's wedding dressesfor gorgeous, yet inexpensive options. Opt for one of these and a few hundred dollars in alterations and you're sure to look gorgeous on your big day!
