Deciding on the perfect engagement photo location is not an easy task. Unless you have somewhere that's already special to you as a couple, then the sky is the limit. If you're stumped, we always suggest talking with your photographer as they will know some areas to suggest from experience. Next, think about the kind of vibe you want your pictures to have - relaxed, formal, natural, etc.
Atlanta holds a special place in our hearts, so we thought we'd share three of our favorite hidden gems for taking engagement photos – all with very different vibes – and why we love them. So... if you're local to Atlanta, coming here to take your engagement photos, or just looking for engagement photo location inspiration, keep reading to see our top three picks!
Option #1: Old southern charm at the Cator Woolford Gardens
These beautiful gardens are a hidden gem in the middle of Atlanta. Part of the Frazer Center, a non-profit on the same estate grounds, the Cator Woolford Gardens is an intimate spot for engagement photos. It boasts a number of gorgeous photo spots full of old southern charm, from the grand staircase to the gazebo to the beautifully manicured field, all within a 100 feet of each other, allowing you to get a variety of backdrops without walking for miles. Plus, with little foot traffic, you won't have to dodge photo bombers or worry about having all eyes on you! We suggest opting for a romantic, elegant look for pictures here. Our Abbi or Christina dresses are perfect options!
Option #2: A quiet, natural escape at Tanyard Creek Park
It's hard to believe that this idyllic 14.5 acre park located along the Northside Beltline Trail lies in the heart of Buckhead. As you walk the trail, you'll find a peaceful creek, sprawling open fields, and 100 foot trees towering over you. Another location that doesn't get as much foot traffic as you might expect, Tanyard Creek is the perfect location for a more natural, and again, intimate, engagement shoot. With a variety of backdrops, you could easily opt for a more boho look like our Anna dress or a more dressy, chic option with our Ella top!
Option #3: A cool city vibe at a downtown Atlanta parking deck
While downtown Atlanta isn't necessarily the most happening place to be, there are a few skyline views that make it worth visiting every now and then. If you're looking for a fun, city skyline to shoot your engagement photos, we'd suggest one of the parking decks downtown overlooking the Ferris wheel. This one in particular is near the Tabernacle. You'll score a secluded spot above the city side-walkers and get a unique view of Atlanta that's not showcased as often as other skyline shots. For a shoot in the city, we suggest a more formal look like our bestselling Maryashley dress!
As you plan your engagement photo location start with the vibe you're trying to achieve. Once you've settled on that, choose a location and look that will help you achieve that feel. If you're in Atlanta, we can't recommend one of these three hidden gems enough!
